We exist to empower every patient and every health organization on the planet with evidence on the outcomes of care!

Why do we get up in the morning? Well, most healthcare professionals have chosen to work in healthcare driven by their desire to make a difference in patients’ lives. And so have we! We have chosen to follow this calling by addressing the biggest problem in healthcare: the lack of real-world evidence on the outcomes of care.

For us, society denying patients better care due to lack of access to data is unethical, in a world where technology has improved so many aspects of our world. Making the right evidence available to healthcare organizations to help prevent one lost life, one care complication, one failed treatment is the moral obligation that big tech companies have – it’s our Hippocratic Oath.

The Momentum

We are scaling fast and (certainly not) breaking things, backed by renowned VC investors. In the next two years, we will enter new markets in Europe and Latin America, reaching out to new patients with multiple healthcare needs, whom we will help live their lives to their fullest potential. Exciting stuff!

Summer Internship Details

Duration of 8 weeks, starting in end of june/beginning of july.
Work in a project that will help Promptly achieve long term objectives.
Full-time internship. You manage your own time.
If you have a holiday in the middle of the internship that's ok.
Remote, but we have our offices open for you.
You will have a mentor who will be responsible for guidance and supervision.

Project Introduction

In today's healthcare landscape, the collection and management of vast amounts of data are essential for research, analysis, and decision-making. However, accessing, understanding, and utilizing this data efficiently can be challenging due to its complexity and volume. To address this challenge, we propose the development of a Metadata Portal tailored specifically for healthcare databases. This internship project aims to create a user-friendly platform that provides comprehensive metadata about healthcare databases, enhancing accessibility and usability for researchers, clinicians, and policymakers.

Objectives

Scope of Work:

Metadata Standard:

Dive into the world of healthcare databases and metadata standards.
Talk to people to understand what they need from a healthcare data portal.
Figure out the key info we need to include to make the portal user-friendly and helpful.

Interaction with DBs:

Should be plug-n-play into cloud and local DBs like Postgres, AWS Athena, Databricks, DuckDB
Should be easy to obtain its results in a simple format (.json)

(lower priority) UI/UX:

A collaborative platform to :
- publish the metadata
- search for other database
- observe your metadata in a dashboard-like fashion

Intern Tasks

Tasks involve R&Dand Full Stack Development:

Research state of the art metadata extraction tools and data models
Test SoA tools and choose the one closest to our expected outcomes. Develop the remaining needed features if possible.
At least propose an idea of how the metadata platform would look. If there is time, develop a PoC

Expected outcomes

At the end of the internship, it is expected to achieve the following outcomes.

Metadata standard table(s)
Multidatabase tool that connects and extracts the metadata tables in a simple format (eg .json)
(lower priority) Platform to publish and visualize the metadata and search for other databases
Report and documentation

Technology Stack:

Python, Java (variability depending on the chosen tool for metadata)
